Faculty papers

The University Archives houses and maintains a wide variety of material relating to the multiple facets of our faculty’s academic and professional commitments. The material displayed here is from the Keith Porter papers and the University Publications.  Porter was a world-renowned cell biologist and the first scholar to hold the prestigious Elkins professorship at UMBC.  Along with an extensive collection of Dr. Porter’s  research slides and photographs (2 are shown here), the University Archives houses material relating to Dr. Porter’s role  as a faculty member  and scholar as well as his personal papers.  The letters shown below are from his unprocessed personal papers; when the Archives staff has processed letter they will be removed from the envelopes (and the ribbon) and laid flat to prevent any damage to the paper.
